Let The Editor Do The Editing.

When shooting for travel editors, the key word is choice. Give your travel editor a lot of choice.

"Here's me in front of the Eiffel Tower" is one you can skip, but shoot everything else: wide shots, verticals, horizontals, close-ups from the outside, close-ups from the inside, shots with people, shots without people. The more you offer your travel editors, the happier they'll be...and the more likely they'll use you on the next assignment.

Most travel editors prefer to work from slides. However, always confirm what medium the periodical works in: slides or prints, B&W or color. Also, ask if any types of pictures are taboo (the New York Times, for example, won't use wide-angles that distort straight lines into curves), and whether your editor has a preferred view you should make sure you get.
