It's Nice to be Important
At our travel writing and photography workshops, people
often ask, "What's the secret to success?" Our answer
surprises them. We say, "You have to know how to write
a simple, declarative sentence or shoot a
straight-forward picture. Beyond that, two things will
get and keep you published. One is persistence--trying
time after time after time to gain that first
acceptance with a new market.
The second is cordiality. If you're easy to deal with,
you'll have a great advantage over others who are not.
