WHAT'S YOUR WORST PHOTO NIGHTMARE? Here's mine...it was below zero in Crested Butte, Colorado, but my Western models and their horses were performing beautifully. I spent the whole afternoon shooting rugged cowboys and long-haired cowgirls riding through snow. It wasn't until much of my film came back blank that I realized that, halfway through the shoot, my shutter must have frozen shut. Despite the fact that film was advancing and the meter was reading and everything was looking A-OK, I was getting nada. How to prevent this nightmare? When shooting under adverse conditions, like extreme cold, use two cameras. It's likely that at least one of them will be working. Another trick: Put your camera and a hand warmer inside a plastic bag. |
