EXPOSE IT RIGHT Proper exposure is a critical part of travel photography. Most editors prefer to work with slides. Slide film is more exacting than print film when it comes to exposure. Print film allows a margin of error of about one and one-half stops; slide film only about a half a stop. So what can you do to be confident you've captured the best exposure? Take a shot at the camera meter's recommended exposure. Then take two more--one at one-half stop over the recommended exposure and another at one-half stop under. This of course is called bracketing, and it could save the day...particularly when the day is in Portugal or somewhere else you can't get back to in a hurry. |
