Travel Tips

MULTIPLE SUBMISSIONS

To enhance your profits from writing and photography, plan to submit your work to more than one non-competing publication at a time. Just use common sense in choosing your markets: The Baltimore Sun doesn't care if your photo story appeared in the San Francisco Guardian; the San Francisco Examiner does.

Simultaneous submission is easy with the words--just run off another copy on your computer. But what about your photos?

You can go two routes. One is to have high-quality dupes made of your best shots and send them off simultaneously. The better way is to avoid the expense of duping by shooting many frames of the same subject when you're on the scene. (In-camera dupes). Now, you have ready-to-go originals for each publication. Only when the subject can't be shot repeatedly--sports action, a restless child--do you need to resort to duping for multiple submissions.
