WHO OWNS THE WEB SITE? Q. What can be done if a Web developer and the developer's client both insist on owning the copyright in the Web site the developer is to create for the client? A. One solution to this problem is to split up ownership, with the developer retaining ownership of components the developer will want to use in future projects, and the client getting ownership of the Web site design as a whole (minus those components). For example, a developer might want to retain ownership of a shopping cart program for use in future projects. |
